PROTECTING BORDER COMMUNITIES

PRESERVING ECONOMIC PROSPERITY

Who We Are

The Border Mayors Alliance is a unified national voice representing border cities and communities from coast to coast, spanning from major port cities in British Columbia to industrial trade hubs in Ontario and New Brunswick.

The economic impact of the tariffs on Canadian border cities are immense and significantly threaten our local jobs, and subsequently, our livelihoods. We are dedicated to protecting the economic and development interests of our communities and bringing a vital municipal perspective to international discussions.

Our mission is to safeguard the well-being and prosperity of border communities across Canada.

A Unified Voice for Border Communities

We are actively working with industry leaders, all levels of Canadian government, and our American neighbours to develop contingency strategies and mitigate the disruptions caused by these tariffs.

  • The future health, safety and economic prosperity hinges on our ability as both Canadians and Americans to come together and remove the undue tariffs on cross-border trade.

  • The Border Mayors Alliance is hopeful U.S. President Trump will recognize the benefit that free trade brings Americans, and the value of maintaining positive diplomatic relationships with their neighbours to the north.

The Canada-U.S. trade relationship is one of the world's largest, supporting millions of jobs. These tariffs disrupt long-standing business relationships, necessitate costly supply chain reorganizations, and threaten the livelihoods of families on both sides of the border.

The economic impact will be felt far beyond our border towns, affecting industries and communities across both countries.
